No doubt one of the best Korean BBQs that I have ever had (outside of Korea). I can still hear the sizzling of fresh meat on the grill as I type up this blog entry.
Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong is a famous Korean BBQ chain from Korea. This Korean BBQ shop was opened by a famous Korean comedian, Mr. Kang Ho Dong . Currently the restaurants are only in the USA. Hopefully one day it will open a location in Toronto.
Unlike other Korean BBQ that I had in Toronto, the advanced ventilation system in this restaurant does not leave you smelling of smoke when you leave. This is definitely a thumbs up!
We came to the restaurant right when it opened at 11:30 am to avoid a long line up. We were greeted by friendly staff and were led to the upstairs room.
Side dishes were already set on the table upon arrival. The tofu with secret sauce was amazing and a great appetizer.
Corn with cheese and the eventual steamed egg in the empty slot – cool grill design
We ordered the small beef combo set (thinly sliced beef brisket, seasoned prime short rib, prime boneless short rib + soybean paste stew) for $69.99. The beef brisket was so tender and was cooked just right by the server. The sweetness of the beef was enhanced with the secret sauce!
Marinated prime beef short ribs. IT TASTED SO GOOD THAT I CAN’T EVEN TAKE A FOCUSED PICTURE! The short ribs were so juicy and flavorful.
At last the climax of the meal! Prime boneless beef short ribs. With no extra seasoning, cooked just by itself. The perfect marbling of the beef gave the meat a balanced texture and flavor (drool). We were so stuffed with the small combo set at the end of our meal.
All I can say is, if you are ever in NYC and craving for some Korean BBQ, you should definitely go to this place! Good portion, great value and very delicious meat! Also they cook for you (for those that are lazy >o<).
